There was a post here a while back on Christian mystics. It got little play so I thought I'd pose a different question. I come from a pretty strong Lds background on my mothers side. I have never been baptized formally anyway, I know things I shouldn't about the church and have had dreams that make me wonder if I'm being pulled in that direction. It's completely against my will and my better judgment I wouldn't make a good mormon, and yet. I don't know what God is leading me toward but I sure want to find out. Has anyone else had this experience being pulled out of there comfort zone, can you imagine a blind Lds mystic wearing hijab,God really does have a sense of humor. Tiffany
Well, I know many pagans of various faiths who have had such experiences. Some were Christians or Atheists before their conversions. Others worshipped a specific pantheon i.e. Greek, Roman Norse, Egyptian etc. but found themselves being called by gods of another pantheon, sometimes incorporating them into their faith, such as a Hellenic Polytheist worshipping a Roman or Egyptian god/goddess and sometimes switching religions entirely. I've never had such a calling from The Gods, except possibly from Athena when I became a Hellenic Polytheist. But one thing I've learned from my friends is that when a deity calls, it's always best to listen. So if you feel that the god of the Mormons is calling you, perhaps you should at least meet Him half way, just to see what's going on. You might learn something interesting, have a great experience or decide that it's not for you. But you'll never know if you don't try. Good luck with everything.
I would agree with this. As a five year member of the LDS church, I often never imagined I'd ever "find religion." Always figured there had to be some truth to the idea of "God", but I had no idea what it was. Only prayer, willingness and study will help you come to terms with what you are being drawn towards. In the case of the LDS church, I'd also be sure the things you know about it are correct. there's a ton of anti-LDS literature and propaganda, and a lot of people who do things that give it a bad name. But peope are people. All you can truely do is follow your beliefs, be open minded and open of heart. God understands us very well, and we are not faulted for things we don't understand.
